On October 21 Giorgi Alavidze, the new deputy director general of JSC People's Bank, introduced PayWaveCard, a noncontact card, at one of the pharmacies of PSP network, where the first terminal will be installed.
At the first stage, People's Bank will issue 2 000 VISA Classic noncontact cards, including 500 ones will be issued by the end of 2009. The price of the card makes up about USD 50 and it will be issued in shopping malls, fast food restaurants, schools and so on. At the second stage, terminal will be installed at parking places.
VISA company representatives have launched negotiations with the Government of Georgia on widely introduction of PayWaveCard in municipal transport, Svetlana Giorbelidze, a VISA director general in CIS countries, told GBC.
