HSBC ’s new branch has opened on May 15 on Pekini Street. The new branch offers a full range of retail and commercial products and services to its customers. The head office and the main branch of HSBC Bank Georgia are located on Rustaveli Ave.
HSBC commenced banking operations in Georgia in June 2008. This brought to 84 the number of countries and territories in which HSBC has a presence. After ten months of operations the bank has created a solid customer base, increased the capital by $5million, doubled its number of employees from 44 to 86 and opened another branch to further improve the customer experience.
The Bank’s start-up, paid in capital as at 23 June 2008 was GEL23.9mln. In March 2009 the capital was increased by $5 million and at present HSBC Bank Georgia’s capital is GEL 32 272 880.
Tony Turner, CEO, HSBC Bank Georgia said: “Our plans in Georgia remain unchanged. HSBC will expand its business in this country steadily. At the beginning we are focused on Tbilisi but in the long term we will consider having branches in other cities of Georgia. Our bank is guided by customer needs: as we see demand we will respond to it and will offer banking convenience to our customers. Pekini branch is a good example of this.”
